Project Name:
Biometric (Fingerprint) Terminal Installation
Value:
$80,000
Deliverables:
Security, Alarm & Access Control
Location:
Various sites at Bellevue Hill Campus & Gladesville
Completed:
2018 – 2019
Client:
The Scots College

Scope of Works:

We have carried out security works for this client for many years. As boarding students are offered access cards which have additional purposes such as identification, bus passes and building access, we set out to resolve the issue of the students losing their cards, not paying for replacements and propping doors open.

The security risk was becoming noticeable. Urban offered a cardless solution to use biometric (fingerprint scanning) and fully remove all cards from students. This would also reduce the cost of cards which involved the replacement of approximately 200 cards per annum.

We supplied and installed numerous biometric terminals to each boarding house, supplied and set up the enrolment software onto a client PC, trained the client on enrolment and deletion of users.

We integrated the third-party system into the existing alarm and access control system and set up a supervisory app for the housemasters to keep track of the students in their own boarding house. The job was rolled out in stages as the budget permitted.

All infrastructure and systems are still in place today and are used hundreds of times per day. Urban was the head contractor on this project and carried out all design, pre-wiring, supply and install of hardware, implementation, commissioning and training.
